Ingredients and Utensils Required

  • 2 medium-sized mugs
  • A fork
  • A handful of chocolate chips
  • 2 ½ tablespoons of cocoa powder
  • 4 ½ tablespoons of plain flour
  • 2 tablespoons of milk
  • 2 tablespoons of melted butter
  • 3 tablespoons of sugar

1. Add the main ingredients (cocoa powder, plain flour, milk, melted butter, and sugar) into your first mug. This will be your mixing mug, so don’t worry about any mess. Whisk with a fork until the mixture is smooth.

2. Sprinkle the chocolate chips in the mixture, stirring with a fork to evenly distribute them.

3. Pour this into your second mug. If you spill any mixture down the sides of the mug, wipe it off now.

4. Place your mug brownie in the microwave. Cook for 1 minute 20 seconds on 800W, then in 10-second increments if necessary until the centre is soft and gooey.

How to Make a Summer Berries Mug Cake

Ingredients and Utensils Required

First of all, to make one mug cake, you will need an assortment of ingredients.

  • 2 medium-mugs
  • A fork
  • 20g unsalted butter
  • 4 tablespoons of plain flour
  • 3 tablespoons of milk
  • 2 tablespoons of caster sugar
  • ¼ tablespoon of vanilla extract
  • ¼ tablespoon of baking powder
  • A pinch of salt
  • A handful of fresh berries
  • Jam or curd of your choice


1. Pour the milk and scoop the butter into the first mug and microwave in 10 second increments, stirring each time until the butter has melted.

2. Once the butter and milk are mixed together, add the vanilla extract, sugar, flour, baking powder and salt. Whisk with a fork until smooth. Add your chosen fresh berries, stir again, and pour the mixture into the second mug.

3. Place the second mug into the microwave and cook for 1 minute at 800W or until the sponge mixture is firm.

4. Generously spread the jam or curd on top and you’re done. It really is that easy!
