We’re so excited about our latest leather collection! Featuring seven classic bag and accessory shapes in 11 vibrant colours, there’s something for everyone. We caught up with our bags buyer, Jen, to find out more about this colour-popping range, from the first shot of inspiration to the styles that are HQ faves!
What was the biggest inspiration for the collection?
We want our customers to know that Cath Kidston do leather, and we do it well! Our aim was to create a luxurious range that stood out and showcased what we’re famous for – colour. The 11 different shades were carefully selected by our in-house design team represent the different spokes of the colour wheel.
How has our leather collection evolved over the last few seasons?
Our leather bags have been gathering momentum season upon season, and we see lots of happy customers investing in them. We’re growing in confidence when using colour, as we’ve seen great reactions to pop colours like pink and yellow as well as classic colours like plain black. Who’d have thought we would be selling a plain black bag! It just goes to show that the shapes, leather quality and attention to detail make our leather range unique. Here at HQ, we all love the shiny gold hardware, and the dark edging helps tie the whole range together.
How did you choose which print to put in the lining?
We knew it had to be a floral and we had so many gorgeous ones to choose from. We opted for Island Bunch as it complimented all the 11 leather colours perfectly, and the scale works just as well for bags as it does for accessories.
What was the inspiration for the new lozenge shape bag?
Even though we don’t follow trends, we always keep up to speed on shapes filtering through from the catwalks. The lozenge shape has been seen at many luxury brands, and it seemed like the perfect addition to our range. This sleek yet chic style is perfect for framing colour and print, and it’s also surprisingly roomy!
The collection comes in 11 colours, which are the most popular within Cath Kidston HQ?
We’re spoilt for choice! The white surprised us – the contrast dark grey edges finish this bag so well and everyone ‘oohed’ when we opened the initial box of samples! The red lozenge is also a definite favourite amongst the team.
